Is there anything else I should purchase for this job. I do not want to have to drop the tank again a year from now because of something I should have replaced now. Also should I step up to a strong pump now If I hope to put a 351 in my 1989 5.0 in about 2 years?
You should be set with this new tank in eliminating your issue. I would check the floor to filler neck seal; if old and cracked like mine was, now is the time to replace, And yes sir, if I anticipated the type of upgrade motor wise I would go with a larger fuel pump while I am in the process of replacing tank. Do it right the first time and you will not live with regrets latter,
Also I would like to point out my fuel tank is not currently leaking. I am contemplating this upgrade because my fuel gauge reads full when I leave the house but 20 miles away it drops to dead empty. I am presuming it is the fuel sending unit that is faulty.
