I have a charging problem with my fox at idle from the cheap underdrive pulleys that came on the car, even with my switch to a 3g alternator I'm still dropping below 12 volts at idle will these have the same problem? and I would rather have underdrive over stock if I can.
btw! I love the site and all of the parts! keep it up latemodel!!
If you are still dropping below 12v at idle with a 130 amp alternator, you have other issues besides the current pulley setup. If you employed a used alternator for the swap, the voltage regulator may be faulty. Another possibility is that you did not use the 4ga power wire upgrade or that the wire used is of lower quality and is high resistance causing a voltage drop. Lastly, your engine idle speed may be too low; between 750 and 850rpm is where the alternator will perform best at idle. Of course, the higher the rpm, the greater the ability to charge. Even with underdrive pullies, you should see between 12.6 and 13.2 volts at idle.
