DOES THIS TUNER HAVE TO BE MARRIED TO THE SCT X4 TUNER (P/N SCT-7015 OR NA7015C) OR CAN IT BE MARRIED TO THE DIABLOSPORT I1000 TUNER? IF EITHER ONE CAN BE USED, WHICH ONE DO YOU RECOMMEND? I HAVE HAD AN SCT TUNER FOR MY '06 GT, W/MANUAL & 4.6L, KOOKS HEADERS, GT5OO TWIN 65MM THROTTLE BODY, THROTTLE BODY SPACER AND DOMINATOR ADAPTER, AND FORD RACING CAI,BUT WASN'T REALLY IMPRESSED WITH IT AS I REALLY COULDN'T NOTICE AND IMPROVEMENTS IN HORSEPOWER OR TORQUE ( HAVING BEEN PROFESSIONALLY TUNED BY FORD RACING COMPANY AND I HAD A DIABLO I1000 DCX FOR MY '11 DODGE RAM 1500 W/AUTO & 5.7L HEMI W/SHORTY HEADERS, K&N CAI, 80MM THROTTLE BODY SPACER WHICH I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH IT. THE DIABLO TUNER JUST SEEMED TO WORK BETTER WITH THE 3 BUILT-IN TUNES. II CAN'T INSTALL THE STEEDA CAI W/O A TUNER I AM TOLD.
The SCT X4 is one heck of a device. While not as small as the inTune, it is easily stowable in the glove box or console with much room to spare. Of course, there is always the SCT iTsx which can stay plugged in to your DLC and your smartphone acts as the handheld via bluetooth. Either unit would be very user friendly.
All of our SVE Tunes are written using SCT software and therefore require an SCT device. You are correct, the Steeda CAI cannot be run without a tune or engine damage will occur. All of the available SCT devices we carry come pre-loaded with support for the Steeda 555-3155 along with several other cold air kit options. While the pre-loaded strategy tunes will make a world of difference, the best performance will be achieved with a custom tune, like those available from or SVE program.
