Community Q&A Question: Intercooler?

Asking About: Mustang Vortech V-3 SCi Non-Intercooled Entry Level System - Satin (86-93) 5.0L

I am very Intersted in this kit. I have a 306 in a 91 gt with holley heads, holley systemax intake, comp cam xe 275hr with aftermarket forged rods and Pistons. I am putting down 320whp and my goal is 400whp minimum. Would really like to see mid 400. Would this kit get me there? Never have ran forced induction so unfamiliar with psi to horsepower numbers and I know they are different with sc and turbos. I was considering the H.O. Non intercooled kit too but someone told me that I would be pushing it being that anything over 6 psi without a cooler isn't safe. Could you guys help me out and fill me in on my questions please. with the numbers I am putting down now, what can I expect out of this kit with a proper tune and can a safely run the h.o. Kit without a charge cooler? Thanks

With the mods you have, hitting that number with this kit should be obtainable with proper tuning. What you have heard is likely due to potential heat soak issues. If you are planning to use this car as a street car/strip car, as long as the cooling system is up to par, you should be fine. If you are planning to road course race where it will be in consistent boost, than intercooling would be recommended.
