Charging Wires

Do I have to use the two black/orange charging wires from original factory harness when using the 4g wire kit? Also could I run the yellow wire from new regulator plug to the power lug on alternator like the PA harness? I have watch the video on LMR and am reading lots of info on Internet. Thanks.

If the kit is ordered correctly for your model year car, one of the pigtails is exactly the same as the one that's on it now. The black and orange striped wires will have a fish eye crimp to attach them to the bolt on power return to the battery and other systems, and the white wire that's left will have a pigtail that you will use stand alone from the others. If you have a factory harness, it's a very easy set up to install your new alternator. If you have any further technical questions, please feel free to call the tech line for further in depth questions and they will be better able to go through the process for your stallion one step at a time.

Steve, I'm not sure you understood Edward's question. In the video it's not clear when the installer adds the 4guage wire wether or not he uses it along side the two black and orange wires or if they are eliminated in favor of the 4 gauge wire. I had the same question and your answer doesn't help. I will call the tech line if the written instructions that come with the kit tomorrow don't clarify. - pete last year

"The black and orange striped wires will have a fish eye crimp to attach them to the bolt on power return to the battery and other systems." I'm pretty sure those are the only two black and orange wires that are connected to the charging system, they are connected to the same place as the new 4 gauge wire. These two black and orange wires still run to the secondary junction box and cpu to provide power for other systems and etc. They cannot be eliminated all together because they are the only source of power for other systems. If the 4 gauge wire that provides charging voltage to the battery directly, where else would the secondary junction box draw power? Simple answer is, no you cannot eliminate them all together. - Steve last year
