I put an off road h-pipe on my 1990 5.0 convertible. The smell was overwhelming. I had to switch back to the stock pipe. Is anyone running these on a convertible, and if so, how much does it reduce the smell? Ideally, I would like it to smell as little as the stock h-pipe. I want the performance and sound (somewhat) of the off-road pipe.
Catalytic converters do their job well. That job being to cut down on emissions. When you remove cats, you're going to pick up some exhaust smell from the added spent gas. These converters are higher flow than your stock ones, and your car came with 4 cats, so I can't guarantee you that the smell will be gone with these, but it will definitely be reduced. The sound and power, however, shouldn't differ much from the offroad pipe you're using now, so they're a great compromise between 4 restrictive factory cats and none at all.
