Speaker grills

I know this sounds dumb but how do you install theses? I have a 95 convertible & mine won't come off....I say that because I'm afraid of breaking the plastic. Seems like there is a black tab that goes into the speaker stud. Is that correct?

Thanks

The lower grilles are a bit involved to remove. They are actually screwed in from the back side with phillips screws, and the interior quarter panel has to be removed in order to gain access to them. If your car is equipped with mach 460, the upper grille is just clipped in, and can be popped out by prying on it. Below are the instructions to installing a CDC light bar, and this will shed some light on how to remove the quarter panels.

Karen, thanks for the response. My lower grills are attached with a plastic plug that go into the (tower part) thus I have no screws. Can I pop these off& then replace the plastic plug with screws? Also I looked at the link & it doesn't help much with the lower grills. Please let me know if I can replace the plastic plugs with screws

That link is primarily to help you gain access to the grilles. Once you've done that, If you can get those plastic plugs out, self tapping screws can be used. Most used screws from the factory, but there is a handful that had the plastic plugs.

Ah, lucky me with the plastic. As long as I can put some screws in I'm OK with that. Was just worried about not being able to replace the plastic plugs. I'll give it a try & see what I come up with. Thanks for the help.
