Community Q&A Question: cam install

Asking About: Mustang Ford Racing E303 Camshaft Hydraulic Roller, E Cam (85-95) 5.0L/5.8L

cam install

I have a 90 foxbody that is pretty much stock. What all needs to be changed to install. And does engine have to come out of car?

Besides the obligatory gaskets, oil, and coolant, I'd recommend changing out the valve springs, as the stock valve springs were barely adequate for the stock cam when they were new. TFS-2500100 is a great spring kit for stock or cast iron heads. A new set of roller lifters wouldn't hurt, but aren't required if yours still appear in good working order. also a set of roller rockers would really round out the upgrade.

And no, the engine does not need to be removed for the cam swap. - Jonathan 2 years ago
