If my car has an engine with the firing order 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8, will this cam fit?? if not, what cam will fit??....I just bought one of this but not sure if my engine has the old firing order, it was adapted on the car.

But is it possible to use a roller E cam with tappet lifters?? will it work?? does affect anything??..I know the firing order will be different but it will be just the matter to change the wiring. - HECTOR 6 years ago

All 302 EFI engines are roller cam after 1985. Your engine, if built after 85, is most likely a roller cam engine regardless of firing order. If you install this cam in your non-high output engine, the only thing you will need to do is use the high output firing order. Non-high output=1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8, High output=1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

In a roller engine can I use a non roller cam?? changing the lifters with a tappet style....I bought a non roller cam with the kit of tappet lifters, but not sure if it will work or not, or if it will affect something....urgent need to assembly my engine. - HECTOR 6 years ago

That firing order is for a non roller motor. The E cam is for roller motors with the firing order of 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. You will need to get a hydraulic non-roller camshaft for the correct firing order for it to work on that motor.

Yes you can install a flat tappet cam and lifters into a roller engine, but you will need to also install longer pushrods and change the distributor gear from a steel gear to a cast iron gear. Using a flat tappet can will retain your non-high output firing order. I believe you will need 6.880 length pushrods, you will need to do some research on the actual length you need though.
