shifter not fitting on stock bushing

I just got the econoshifter and was installing it on my car but it fits really tight on the stock bushing and really hard to get in gear and it won't go in reverse.... would the dampener bushing would help?

The ball on the econoshifter is definitely larger than stock. So much so that I was looking in the box thinking they must have included a new one. I was tempted to remove the stock bushing completely but I suppose a little grease and use could wear it in. - Nick last year

This is a factory replacement for your existing bushing, so it will not provide a looser tolerance. It is recommended to put some grease or lube on the shifter ball on the bottom of the shifter. I would ensure it is properly lubed and make sure the adjustable stops are allowing you to shift into all of the gates, and it should then perform properly for you.
