Bob Vervaecke - 1991 Saleen Mustang
I've owned this 1991 Saleen (Car #39) a little over a year now. Saleen only built 92 regular Saleen mustangs in 1991, making this year fairly rare.
It has all the usual Saleen goods - 4 wheel discs (SVO), alum SVO M/C, 5 lugs, 16" wheels, Racecraft springs/shocks, strut tower & lower braces, SFC's, body kit, 2-piece wing, Flofit interior, Pioneer Stereo w/remote, etc., along with the optional 3.55 rear gears.
In addition, it has the aftermarket Saleen pedals & caster/camber plates. There's a Cobra intake (with Saleen emblem), 24lb injectors, 70mm TB, C&L elbow / mass air, and 1.7 roller rockers. The car has aftermarket headers, off-road H pipe, and a Magnaflow cat-back (from LRS!)
When I purchased the car, it had to be trailered home - wouldn't stay running. After a lot of diagnostic work, I found vacuum lines that had been switched ALL around, and a completely worn-out distributor were causing most of the problems. It runs great now...
This winter's upgrades include all new rotors & pads, Koni shocks & struts, new tires, and a rebuild of the power steering system. I'm hoping to start auto-crossing again next year, after a couple years off, and 91-039 should be a LOT of fun!!!
I'm trying to keep the car somewhat original appearing & period-correct, while enjoying a few upgrades along the way.
