eliot erlandson - 1963 Mercury "SVT" Cobra Meteor
This is my 1963 Mercury Meteor, although technically not a mustang, if you look under the car you happen to find a complete 2003 SVT Cobra IRS, a complete SVT Cobra brake system (yes hydroboost is there, although abs isn't hooked up), sn95 spindles (modified), and believe it or not there are SVT Cobra mufflers hung by the factory IRS muffler hangers!!! Its got '99 SVT Cobra seats up front, and the engine is a 1992 5.0l (at the moment it is carburated, and has headers, but thats about it). It has a coilover front suspesnion (with rack and pinion), which has a KRC power steering pump on it. It has notched strut towers (for eventual clearance of where the turbo will be), and the front wheels are narrowed two inches. Now heres where everything gets interesting, this is my second year of driving the car to high school! My dad and I built it as a father and son project, and I have to say its been a priceless experience (best experience of my life). I got to race it at the last high school nationals at milan dragway, and I won my first round, and then lost my second round when I had a 0.028rt to my friends 0.019rt, and I ran 0.01 off my dial in, as did he. It was a race I will never forget. I wont tell the time (it was slow), but that should change as engine work happens. I've also had the luck of taking it around the ford proving grounds in Livonia Michigan, and it gets better! In parade fashion, behind me was a 1961 super stock galaxy with the 401, in front of me was the 1970 King Cobra Torino, and in front of that was the cyclone spoiler two. The other special part about this car? It was built December 24, 1962! Another interesting thing is I had my diocese Bishop bless the car believe it or not! Thats my car in a nut shell, its my families 4th meteor, and its my dream car!
