Justin Engmark - 1991 Ford Mustang GT
This was my first car (almost 9 years ago) and it's been a work in progress since. I bought the car from a salvage yard with just 61k on the odometer; the previous owner had managed to run it straight into a tree or poll of some sort, taking out everything in front of the water pump. My father has spent his entire career in the autobody industry and it was his skill that put it back together.
Since the first build there isn't much I've left alone; the original AOD came out in favor of a TKO-500, the engine got a Trickflow Street Heat intake w/70mm TB, E-303 cam and AFM Cold Air intake w/C&L MAF. Exhaust consists of BBK equal length shorties, offroad X-pipe and Flowmaster 3-chamber cat-back. Keeping it cool is a Griffin radiator and Flex-a-lite Black Magic fan. The factory springs and dampers were ditched in favor of FRPP and KYB units. The brakes were swaped to 5-lug using 95 GT spindles/rotors/etc. and 5-lug drums in the back. It also has the 3.55 gears and diff out of a 03 Mach 1. The wheels are 17" Boyd Coddington Magnetos with BFG rubber. Inside, 04 Cobra seats dress up the black interior and hold me in place while a home made gauge cluster full of Autometer Pro-Comps gives me the vital information.
The 2-tone paint didn't happen until a few years ago when I finally convinced my dad to lay the black over the original red. The flame pattern is the result of hours in the garage and a lot of masking tape! A Cervinis Ram Air hood was also added in the process to complete the look I was going for.
The last major modification is going to be in the power department; I'm thinking of an AFR headed 331 with a centrifugal supercharger. I figure with at least 500 rwhp, that'll be enough money in one pit and I can start saving for a new (2011+) 5.0L!
