Ralph Coppola - 2002 Ford Lightning
Bought my 2002 Lightning new. With exception of my installing a K&N cold air system, my truck remained bone stock for its first 10 years. At 90K miles of reliable driving, I decided to give my truck a treat. I changed out of the plenum, installed a bigger throttle body, hotter plugs, HD COP's, low restriction 3" exhaust, ram air Cervini fiber glass hood, smaller pulleys top and bottom for additional boost, and SCT performance tuning on the dyno.
How I love these modern day "plug and play add on's"...so much easier to add more horse power than back in the day. This 5.4 liter has never been torn down, and I hope it never will. So now my truck is putting out 430 HP to the rear wheels with 500 foot lbs of torque. And still going like a bat out of hell at 111K miles! I still eat up 5.0's, Camaros and Challengers, and even the same year 'Vettes on the street whenever the opportunity comes up.
People tell me the truck looks just like it came out of the showroom and are amazed to learn that this is my daily driver which is outside in the driveway 365 days a year for the last 14 years. And it's never been waxed. Love that paint finish.
I'd be happy to be buried in this truck when the time comes, but I love this truck so much that it has been willed to my grandson after I'm gone. Hopefully, he will love it as much as I do.
