5 Stars   1320' tested, good top end power
By on 3/26/2017
I bought this intake because I wanted something that looked good under the hood and gave me a good bang for my buck when it came to horsepower WITHOUT a tune.

I have a 2012 5.0, 6-Speed Manual transmission, GT Premium (3.73 gears came stock) and my current set up is stock a drivetrain with an over axel pipe and GT500 mufflers. I did this test with just under 3/4s of a tank of gas and I have some brand new all season Goodyear tires.

First off, I did NOT do a burnout and I did NOT launch the car. I staged as is and I simply let out of the clutch and then started to go through the gears. I tried to shift right about 6500 on both passes to get the most accurate data. With the stock intake, I went 107.52 mph. With the BBK intake, I went 109.40 mph. The car had a lot more top end power compared to the stock intake and felt really good through out the pass. I did not feel much difference in the lower gears when it came to power gains (1st and 2nd). The car did not stop pulling once I got into 3rd and 4th gear! I could hear the air being sucked into the intake and the car just felt faster. I did lose a little ET on the second pass, but I think that was because the car got hot and I may have short shifted a little bit, plus I was on street tires (without a burnout) on a cold drag strip.

You could see in the time slip photo that I posted that at the 330' mark I was nearly .060 seconds slower with the BBK intake on compared to the stock intake (remember, the car was hot and I may have short shifted into second). After the 330' mark, the car began to pull, hard! I ended up running just a little slower in the 1320' compared to the stock intake by only 0.016 of a second. After about 400' or so, the car began to real itself back in and I could feel it pulling the entire way down. At the 1/8th mile mark, I was nearly 2.5 mph faster compared to my first pass and at the 1320' mark, I was nearly 2 mph faster (I believe I slowed down from 1/8th mile to 1/4 mile because I may have short shifted, the car may have just been hot, or maybe I had a slight headwind).

In the end, the intake is worth the money if you're not wanting to spend the money on a tuner. The install was easy, it took me about 45 minutes in a dark parking lot at the track. The only issue I had with the install was that it did not come with a sound tube delete plug and the breather line did not clip in like I would have wanted it to. If you're never going to push the car and just use it as a daily driver then you probably won't ever see any performance gains out of it. The intake does look great under the hood, I have gotten a lot of compliments in the 3 days I have had it installed. Im looking forward to buying a tuner soon and see what the intakes full potential is.

Yes, I would recommend this item to a friend!
