The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve is part of the positive crankcase ventilation system, which reroutes crankcase blow-by to the intake manifold and back to the engine, where it's re-burned in the cylinders as part of the fuel/air mixture. This cuts emission pollution and increases fuel economy because unburned fuel in the blow-by is consumed the second time around. It also keeps the blow-by and water vapor from fouling the oil in the crankcase, thus reducing the formation of engine sludge.
I've owned my 99 Cobra for about 5 years now, but am finding little by little that the previous owner did not perform regular maintenance at the required intervals if at all. The PCV valve was just another one of the little things that should have been swapped earlier but this part did the trick.
My only complaint with the part is the box labeled it for 96-98 v6 engines while the website lists it for 1996-01 3.8 4.6 4V engines. I knew it was the correct part because it looked almost 100% identical to the one I pulled off the engine, minus some dirt.

Made in the USA!

I've always thought PCV valves are pretty much all the same. However, I think this one is better quality than the cheaper ones I've bought made in China. This is a Standard product and it is made in the USA. It costs a little bit more, but it's worth it to me.
