Improve the performance of your rear brakes with this bare 1994-2004 Mustang PowerStop Cobra rear brake caliper and rotor kit! Whether you’re upgrading your GT/V6, or replacing worn components on your Cobra, this kit is a great choice to replace the main components of your rear brakes. A pair of brand-new remanufactured PowerStop Cobra brake calipers are included to improve clamping force and provide the proper spacing on your new 11.65” rear brake rotors. As well as PowerStop Autospecialty brake rotors and Z17 ceramic brake pads for even better braking performance!

Cobra Style Calipers

This brake kit includes a set of bare remanufactured PowerStop Cobra-style single-piston brake calipers. These PowerStop brake calipers and mounting brackets feature a bare finish without the Cobra text, so that is ready for you to paint or powder coat any color you want. PowerStop Cobra-style brake calipers have all-new seals, bleeder screws and pad attachment hardware complement. The calipers are thoroughly inspected for quality and safety; pressure tested to prevent leaks and arrive full assembled with premium silicone grease on the slide pins.

Z17 Evolution Plus Ceramic Pads

The ceramic compound used in the PowerStop Z17 Evolution Plus ceramic brake pads is intended to increase stopping power while minimizing brake dust and noise. Z17 pads retain constant wear and performance while ensuring a quick break-in thanks to OE-positive mold technology and a thermally scorched pad surface. Chamfered edges help optimize cooling and suppress noise, while additional noise dampening is performed by the dual-layer rubberized shims. Stainless-steel hardware and hi-temp brake lubricant are included with the brake pads, making it easier to complete your brake job.

Fitment Notice

These rear calipers are a direct fit replacement for 1994-2004 Mustang Cobra.
If using these calipers to upgrade a GT/V6 to 11.65" Cobra rotors, you will need the Cobra-specific axle flange bracket. SVE Cobra Rear Brake Conversion or you will have to source them used individually.
They can also be used to convert a 1979-1993 Foxbody Mustang to rear disc brakes with the use of the disc brake conversion brackets LRS-2100A-K.
This brake kit requires 17" or larger wheels for brake clearance.

Brake pad break-in procedure:

Perform 5 moderate to aggressive stops from 40 mph down to 10 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool and do not come to a complete stop. If you’re forced to stop, either shift into neutral or give room in front so you can allow the vehicle to roll slightly while waiting for the light. The rotors will be very hot and holding down the brake pedal will allow the pad to create an imprint on the rotor. This is where the judder can originate from.
Then do 5 moderate stops from 35 mph to 5 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool. You should expect to smell some resin as the brakes get hot.
After this is complete, drive around for as long as possible without excessively heating the brakes and without coming to a complete stop (Try for about 5 minutes at moderate speed).
This is the cooling stage. It allows the heated resin in the brake pads to cool and cure.
After the brakes have cooled to standard operating temperature, you may use the brakes normally.
