What's in the Box
(1) Independent Rear Suspension System
Ridetech Independent Rear Suspension System Optimize the rear suspension of your 1979-1993 Fox Body Mustang and hit the track or street with confidence using Ridetech's IRS system! Completely replacing the factory solid axle design with a more modern independent rear suspension design greatly improves suspension geometry. The live axle design offers zero camber gain and poor overall handling characteristics. With an IRS suspension, the tire is positioned perpendicular to the tarmac through the turns; thanks to this design's suspension geometry, it lowers the roll center, improves anti-squat, and adds camber with zero bumpsteer for confident cornering. Improve the rear suspension of your timeless Fox Body Mustang with Ridetech’s highly engineered IRS system.
Ridetech Engineering This bolt-in independent rear suspension system replaces the stock live design with tubular upper and lower control arms utilizing custom-made spindles with S550 Mustang hubs. Camber, roll center, and toe angles were also optimized for greatly increased handling. The bolt-in design requires no welding for installation as the IRS cradle is designed to mount to the rear frame rails and modified factory mounting points. The double a-arm architecture induces much-needed negative camber gain during upward travel. Suspension arms are fully tig-welded tubular control arms that feature Delrin bushings infused with Teflon, eliminating the need for lubrication for the life of the bushings. The custom rear spindles use Moog S550 Mustang rear wheel hubs for straightforward installation, easy maintenance, and maximum strength. Spindles are designed with the intention of bolt-on brake caliper brackets (sold separately), giving you the choice to run SN95 or S550 Mustang brake setups. IRS system is compatible with either Ridetech Coil-Overs or Shockwave air suspension kits only (sold separately).
Ridetech started in 1996 with a vision of building a better lowered car. Using air suspension to accomplish the task, our reputation as innovators, problem solvers, and just good folks to deal with, helped them grow quickly. To Ridetech, Hot Rodding means you can always do better and “no” is never an acceptable answer.
Being a Hot Rodder is more than parts and problem solving, if you are one too, then you already know what they mean. It is a lifestyle and a passion, and it is built on sharing with friends. Being a Hot Rodder means you never enter any town as a stranger, you always have fellow enthusiast to sit down with and feel at home. This is why they spend so much of their time and resources on attending events, they want to meet you and hear about your story – even if you aren’t a customer, even if you buy someone else’s product…
Their approach to problem solving, “can-do” perspective and relationship driven business tactics have provided openings into many areas of business including agriculture, commercial transport and defense projects as well… but at the core, they remain true to who they are – they are Hot Rodders.
