Steeda's IMSA race program proven offset A-Arm bushings are available for your street or weekend track warrior Mustang. Steeda's offset A-Arm bushings make great service replacements for the stock A-Arm bushings.
(1) Set 94-04 Mustang Polyurethane Offset Control arm Bushings
Steeda took a great idea from their winning IMSA race program and redesigned it to be great for the street and the track. Just look at all the benefits: Moves the front control arms forward for better weight distribution and increased caster, Quicker steering response Improved overall handling, Straighter tracking and better high speed stability, Improved stability during hard braking, Holds alignment better during hard cornering, Outlasts rubber bushings, and better ride quality than standard "Delrin" bushings
The suspension bushings included with this part can only be lubricated with PTFE grease, also referred to as "Marine Grease". PTFE grease is a very sticky, opaque grease that is water proof and will not degrade the bushing material. If lubed properly at installation, these bushings will not need to be lubricated again. Use of any other grease on these bushings will cause the bushing to fail and any bushing warranty to be voided.
I bought this kit over two months ago and finally was able to set aside the time to install them. There are a couple of issues that you would need to know prior to installing. One, the kit only comes with the rear bushing shells, not the front. You will have to reuse your factory front bushing shells. Two, you will have to take off three millimeters from the edge opposite from the flange on the rear bushing shells due to the fact that the shell is longer than what will fit in the stock K member. Three, use a good quality automotive grease on the front and rear of the bushings where they will rub on the mounting ears of the K member so they wont squeak.
Now... on to the good stuff. It is absolutely amazing what these bushings did for the handling and straight line tracking of the car. I never fully knew how soft the stock bushings were or how much they were deflecting under a load. The turn in is almost instant now and the car tracks exactly where I want it to know, not where it decides it wants to while taking suggestions from me. And finally, although they did increase the road and tire noise I hear now it's perfectly acceptable and easy to live with.
Now I know Steeda states that because these bushings increase caster and because of that they will increase bumpsteer, well if they have....I can't tell. If I measured the bumpsteer I would probably have some but I can't feel any while driving the car. These bushings were absolutely worth the money and time spent.
