3,781 2003 year model Lightnings were produced in Ford's Ontario Truck facility
in Oakville, Ontario until it's closure. In 2003 the Lightning concept truck
was released at the North American Auto Show in Detroit. The concept Lightning featured a 5.4L dual overhead cam engine with a new twin screw design
Eaton supercharger that made over 500 horsepower. Sadly, the concept truck never made it to production. A grand total of 28,124 Ford Lightning's
were produced from 1998 to 2004. The second generation Lightning was initially offered in just Bright Red, Black, and White paint colors. The 2000 Model Year brought the addition of the Silver color to the lineup. In 2002, True Blue, a very dark blue, was offered, but replaced with a lighter Sonic Blue in 2003. The 2003 Model Year also saw the introduction of the Dark Shadow Grey color.
