Pressure in your crankcase causes oil vapor to travel into your intake system. Keeping this oil vapor out of your intake system will help you reduce detonation and oil build up in your intake manifold. Both of these situations will rob your new S550 Mustang of horsepower. To fight this problem on our 2015-16 Mustang GT, we decided to immediately install a JLT oil separator on our 5.0L Stang!
Installing one of these JLT oil separators on your 2015-17 Mustang is a simple installation. It will take you less than 15 minutes thanks to their plug-and-play design that uses Ford OEM style connections. Best of all it will save you from performance robbing oil build up in your intake system. Simply follow along in this video to see just how easy it to install one of these oil separators on your S550 Mustang.
We have developed an oil separator of our own design. Milled from solid billet aluminum this is a rock solid piece. It has a knurled tank base for easy removal to drain the spent oil and an O ring seal to prevent any leaks. We took this unit a step further and added a metal mesh filter to the intake side that collects the vapors, allowing them to grow into larger oil droplets and drains back into the tank. The tank holds 1.5 oz of fluid, while that may not sound like a lot, you shouldn’t see that much oil in your PCV system. Drain it every 2000-2500 miles and you will never come close to filling it.

2015-17 Mustang GT JLT Oil Separator Install:
Remove the stock PCV line by replacing the plastic tangs and pulling the hose off the fittings
Install the new JLT Oil Separator by pressing the ends onto the fittings
Hoses and fittings can move in shipping, but they are designed to swivel for final adjustment.
Al hoses and fittings can rotate 360°. To adjust FORD connector, hold hose and twist connector. To
adjust hose, hold fiting or separator and twist on the fitting.

Published on 2014-10-15 JLT Performance’s 2015 Mustang oil separator keeps oil out of your intake to keep your 5.0 motor running more efficiently. During the process of venting crankcase pressure back through your intake track, large amounts of oil, in the form of vapors, can coat your blower rotors, intercooler fins and even dilute your gas, lowering its octane level. This happens on all engines and is even worse when supercharged as crankcase pressures are increased. This part number is designed to be mounted on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
To combat this, JLT has developed an oil separator of their own design. Milled from solid billet aluminum this is a rock solid piece. It has a knurled tank base for easy removal to drain the spent oil and an O ring seal to prevent any leaks. JLT took this unit a step further and added a Ford Motorcraft metal mesh PCV Pre Filter element. This element collects the last bit of oil droplets and drains back into the tank when the engine is shut down. JLT uses this exact filter in their hugely successful JLT Pre Filters for the 4.6 DOHC engines. The tank holds 2 oz of fluid, while that may not sound like a lot, you shouldn’t see that much oil in your PCV system. Drain it every oil change and you will never come close to filling it.
