With the ever-growing aftermarket support for the Ford Mustang, it's no surprise that Ford has taken note and has added the most popular modifications to their Performance Pack options. The 2018 Mustang GT is no different with the addition of the Performance Pack Level 2 option.

The 2018 Mustang Performance Pack Level 2 is a $6,500 option added to your new S550. It includes track-tested performance upgrades and gives your Mustang a great new look with it's upgraded wheels and suspension.

Created in secret, this Performance Pack Level 2 option was developed both on and off the track for real world testing. This achieved better aerodynamic scores with the larger and lower front splitter and redesigned rear spoiler. The engineers at Ford attached a Boss 302 splitter to the underside of the front to provide a 3" larger surface area which helped create about 24 pounds of downforce at 80mph. This, and the added rear spoiler helped give the 2018 Mustang better grip and handling on the track.

While most of the Performance Pack Level 2 upgrades are just that, performance, there were a few minor upgrades to the exterior. The exclusive 10 spoke Dark Tarnish wheels and tire spats are the most noticeable at first glance. Looking a little closer, you will notice some black detailing on the splitter and spoiler as well. When ordering, you will have the change to select Recaro seats in leather or cloth to provide a comfortable cockpit in your new S550

Overall, the Level 2 performance pack looks to be a pretty promising upgrade for new 2018 Mustangs. This also poses the question of what aftermarket companies will do as Ford lessens the need for upgrading your car. Only time will tell and we are anxious to see how far the Ford engineers will push the next level Mustang!
