With 2022 right around the corner, Ford has recently released some new info on 2 new packages on the 2022 Mustang. This is the 2022 Mustang Stealth Edition Appearance Package and the 2022 Mustang California Special GT Performance Package. Below we list everything we know about these two models so far.
This is the first-ever Stealth Edition to join the Mustang lineup and will only be available for the EcoBoost Premium models. While the 310 horsepower EcoBoost Mustang is nothing to scoff at, Ford thought it was only fitting to add this Stealth Edition Package to bring a more aggressive look that is equipped with unique blacked-out features. This package will be available in the following EcoBoost Premium colors:
For the exterior this Stealth Edition Package features 19-inch Ebony Black-painted aluminum wheels, performance spoiler or rear wing, black pony badges and mirror caps, as well as a new clear, LED taillight cover. These taillight covers are also shared with the new 2022 Mustang Ice White Appearance Package.
New Interior features of this Stealth Edition Appearance Package feature include a unique matte and gloss black instrument panel badge and lighted sill plates.
The California Special when it comes to Mustangs has been such a popular model of the Mustang legacy. This is due to their special styling cues and additional appearance packages. The 2022 Mustang GT California Special continues this tradition, but also brings something new as this California Special model features a GT Performance Package option! Below are the colors that this California Special is available in:
This 2022 Mustang California Special is originally based on the 2022 Mustang GT Premium fastback and convertible models, but it also pays respect to the original version's blacked-out grille, as well as side racing stripes and a rear fender scoop. Also, the front of the vehicle includes a larger front splitter from the GT Performance Package to give it more of a unique look. This heritage-inspired "GT/CS" badge really pops with their Race Red and Ebony Black color scheme and is one of the most eye-catching aspects of this model. These are included on the honeycomb grille, side stripes, and trunk lid emblem.
Under the hood it has a unique strut tower brace that includes the "GT California Special" lettering as well as the popular 5.0-liter V8 engine. Featuring a more aggressive suspension, as well as Brembo brakes, six-piston front brake calipers, and wider Pirelli Summer tires are some of the most significant performance upgrades. It also features unique chassis tuning that include heavy-duty front springs, a larger tubular rear sway bar, lower ride height overall, strut tower brace, K-brace, subframe V-brace, TORSen limited-strip differential, unique stability control, and electric power steering tuning This performance rear spoiler from the GT Performance Package is available for the fastback model with the spoiler delete being available for the California Special convertible. On top of the wider tires, five-spoke painted machined wheels (staggered 19x9" fronts and 19.9.5" rears) are unique to this model.
For the interior it includes rich black Miko suede-trimmed door inserts and seats that include the "GT/CS" logo right under the headrest. With these black seats it includes a red contrast stitching to make it pop and also have "GT/CS" embroidered floor mats. The instrument panel is made up of carbon hex aluminum with a signature California Special badge on the passenger side.
While Ford hasn't yet revealed the sticker prices for either model, you can probably guess that they will be in the high 30s, maybe even north of $40,000! With the popularity of the Mustang Mach-E, while many people love it, just as many aren't huge fans so it's a relief to the traditionalists that some of these popular Mustang models are continuing to be released.
