What's going on, guys? Landon with latemodelrestoration.com. Today we're going to be taking a closer look at Magnaflow Street and Competition Catback Exhaust Kits for your 2015 Mustang GT. Both kits offer the superior performance and quality Magnaflow performance exhaust is known for. Featuring 100% stainless steel three inch mandrel bit tubing, these kits will provide an aggressive exhaust tone and are built to last.
Each muffler will feature large, 4.5 inch tips that nicely fill up the gap in year 2015 Mustang's rear valence. All needed hardware is included with kits as well as detailed installation instructions. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install your Magnaflow Street or Competition Catback Exhaust Kit.
If you don't have access to a lift like we did, go ahead and jack the car up, place it on jack stands, and grab a friend to help. Once the car's in the air, start by removing the exhaust hangers closest to the rear end center section with a 13 millimeter socket. Once free, rotate the end of the hanger downwards out of the way. Locate the two exhaust plants just in front of the resonator.
Loosen the four bolts with a 15 millimeter socket. Partially slide the exhaust clamps toward the resonator. Locate the two exhaust hangers just above the muffler tips. Loosen those bolts with the 13 millimeter socket as well. You'll notice this hanger has a small tap on it. This will allow the exhaust to stay in place until you're ready to completely remove it. Do the same for the other side.
With the extra help from a friend, carefully remove the exhaust from the car. Now that the factory exhaust is removed, transfer the hangers to the new mufflers and midpipe. You can find an exhaust hanger removal tool at most local auto parts stores. Then carefully remove the two exhaust clamps with a rubber mallet and transfer those to your new exhaust as well.
Next, place two clamps on each intermediate pipe and slide them over the included X-pipe. Loosely tighten the two clamps with a 15 millimeter socket. To install the new midpipe, start by sliding the exhaust sleeve back over the factory downpipe and then tighten the hanger bolts closest to the rear end center section.
With the midpipe installed, slide two clamps over the intermediate pipe. The installation of the axle back portion is the exact same for both the Street and Competition exhaust systems. Start by sliding the axle back portion over the intermediate pipe and then use the tab on the hanger to hold the muffler in place.
Go ahead and reinstall the hanger bolts to support the muffler. Next, make sure the muffler tip is aligned properly in the rear valence and tighten the axleback to the intermediate pipe clamp. Repeat these steps for the other side.
Then tighten down the X-pipe to intermediate pipe clamps and the four bolts on the exhaust sleeves that connect the X-pipe to the factory downpipes. Double check your exhaust tips to make sure they are even and you're all done. The installation should take you roughly an hour to an hour and a half to complete right in your own driveway.
