Right Hand Drive vs. Left Hand Drive Mustang Exterior
The Right Hand Drive S550 Mustang's exterior features some really noticeable changes
and some that aren't too noticeable. Some of these exterior changes include:
- Bigger Driver & Passenger Side Manual Folding Mirrors
- Euro Spec Tail Lights & Turn Signals
- Two Reverse Lights
- No Hood Vents
- No DRL's In the Headlights
- Red Fog Light Located in the Rear
- Reversed Windshield Wipers
Right Hand Drive vs. Left Hand Drive Mustang Interior
As far as the interior goes it's pretty self explanatory. Everything has been flipped over to the US-Spec passenger side except the following:
- Hood Release Handle
- Cup holders
- E-brake
- Radio and AC Controls
Some other changes you may notice are:
- Reversed Turn Signal and Windshield Wiper Stalks
- Start/Stop Button is on the right side of the Console
Right Hand Drive vs. Left Hand Drive Mustang Performance
In the performance department of the RHD S550 Mustang there wasn't much of a difference other than the loss of 6HP in the 5.0L. This loss of power was due to the exhaust manifold being reshaped for the RHD steering shaft. Torque remained the same. The only other engine that is offered in the Euro-Spec vehicle is the popular Ecoboost model.
Contrary to popular belief the RHD model features the same shift pattern as a LHD S550 Mustang. This simply means instead of pushing the gear shifter away from you while shifting gears, you will be pulling it towards you as you shift from 1st-6th.
Conclusion
Even though these two S550 Mustang's are worlds apart, they are still assembled in the same plant. We couldn't be more proud of Ford for finally offering one of the most recognizable cars to majority of the world. This just goes to show you that the Mustang community is just that, a community. Whether you are in Australia driving your S550 or in Texas driving your S550 Mustang, we are all connected in some way.
