Replace the damaged or missing third brake light lens on your 1986-1993 Mustang LX coupe with this OE-style replacement from 5.0 Resto! Installation Instructions
Step 1: Make Room To Work
- Move the passenger seat all the way to the front and set the seat back to the forward position to make room to access the backseat comfortably.
Step 2: Remove The Third Brake Light
- Using a short Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws on either side of the third brake light.
- Gently lift up on the third brake light assembly to access the third brake light bulbs
- Twist and remove the bulb harness assemblies from the third brake light
- Remove the third brake light from the vehicle.
Step 3: Remove The Lens
- Flip the assembly over on a work bench to access the back of the assembly.
- Using a flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool, release the clips that hold the lens into place.
- The lens should fall out of the assembly once both tabs have been released.
- You can use this time to clean up the third brake light assembly.
Step 4: Reinstall Component
- Place the new lens into place and ensure it is fully seated.
- Reinstall components in the reverse order of removal.
