SN95 5-lug conversions are a great and fairly inexpensive way to convert to 5-lug and rear disc on your 1979-1993 Mustang. These conversions require specialized SN95 flanged axles that are the correct fox length. What Wheels Work With The Fox Spindle 5-Lug Swaps?
This 5-lug swap does limit your wheel selections becuase it retains the larger Fox Body front bearing and grease cap design. These will simply not clear all SN95/New Edge style wheels. This 5-lug conversion is considered by many to be the ultimate 5-lug conversion for your Fox Body Mustang. It not only converts your Mustang to 5-lug but also ditches the rear drum brakes in favor of a rear disc brake conversion. These swaps use the SN95 Mustang spindles as the foundation for the front conversion. This allows you to use the 1994-04 Mustang GT/V6 or the larger 1994-04 Cobra 2-piston calipers. With larger rotors and better calipers found in SN95 Mustangs, you can drastically improve your braking performance and stopping power with Ford OE-style parts.
SVE and 5.0 Resto offer all the needed brake hoses, brake lines, caliper brackets, hardware, and disc brake conversion kits to complete your Fox Body rear disc brake conversion. This Fox Body 5-lug disc brake conversion requires much more modification and parts than the Fox Spindle swap listed above. That makes this conversion more technical and costly; however, the brake performance and the added wheel fitment can drastically outweigh the added cost.
What Wheels Work With The SN95 5-Lug Swaps?
The short answer is a lot more wheels will work with this conversion compared to the Fox Spindle swap. The SN95 spindle and rotors do not have the larger wheel bearing, and grease caps featured on the Fox Body spindles and rotors. This allows most of the 1994-04 Mustang wheels to fit on your Fox Body Mustang. You will need to check clearances for brake calipers and inner fender wheel well area, but you have many more wheel options.
