Fox Body Mustang Brake Parts

It is no secret that the Ford Fox Body Mustang was lacking when it came to braking capabilities. Lucky for you, our Fox Body experts have put together some of the best Mustang brake kits, restoration parts, and performance brake parts to help you with your brake upgrade. This includes popular upgrades such as 5-lug disc brake conversions or even simple front brake upgrades that include performance brake pads, rotors, and stainless steel brake lines. So whether you are looking to take your brake system to the next level for a drag racing event or simply restoring your factory brakes to their former glory, LMR.com will have everything you need!

Our 4 lug OEM and factory-style replacement parts include replacement calipers, rotors, and drum brake components. Our aftermarket brake kits include the extremely popular 5.0 Resto 5 lug conversions and SVE SN95 rear Disc Brake Conversion Kits. Thanks to the SVE kits, we have taken the guesswork out of the very popular SN95 Cobra brake upgrades. These kits include all the brake hoses, brake lines, axles, adapters, brake boosters, master cylinders, rear-end brackets, and other miscellaneous hardware needed to tackle one of these projects in your garage. Many of these kits are also available in 28 spline and 31 spline options to further upgrade your rear end. They also feature slotted rotor options to take your brake upgrade to the next level.

What big brake kit is best for my Fox Body Mustang?

There are many options for upgrading the brakes on a 1979-1993 Ford Mustang. Many Fox Body big brake upgrade kits include slotted or drilled and slotted rotors, performance brake pads, and larger calipers. These larger calipers can come in many configurations, including 2-piston calipers, 4-piston calipers, or larger ones. Remember that the larger the caliper and rotor sizes, the less clearance you will have for your wheels.

Most of these big brake upgrades require aftermarket wheels. We highly suggest carefully reading through the fitment notes if looking at any of these brake kits. Some of the best-fitting big brake kits on the market are the SN95 Disc Brake Conversions that we offer from SVE. These kits use many OEM or factory-style components found on the 1994-2004 SVT Mustang Cobras. They fit well, drastically improve your stopping power and give you many wheel options because these kits use the SN95 or New Edge Mustang front spindles.

Can you upgrade the rear drum brakes on my Ford Mustang?

Yes, there are great ways to upgrade the rear drum brakes on any 1979-1993 Fox Body Mustang. One of the best kits is the 5.0 Resto Brake Upgrade Package. This kit includes stainless steel brake lines for the front and rear. It also includes performance brake shoes and pads to improve your brake stopping power. Upgrading to a good set of brake rotors will also help you finish off a complete front brake kit. Simply replacing the brake lines with a good set of stainless lines, adding performance pads, and upgrading your drums and rotors can drastically improve your brakes without breaking the bank.

NOTE: We also have a complete rear drum brake rebuild video to help you restore your drum brakes. You can watch it here: 1980-93 Mustang Rear Drum Brake Rebuild.
