Ford Mustang Brakes Tech Info

What Kind Of Brakes Do Mustangs Have?

The Ford Mustang offers a wide variety of different setups, ranging from single-piston, all the way up to a 6 piston Brembo setup. Most Fox Body Mustangs are going to feature a front disc brake setup and a rear brake drum setup. All Mustangs from 1994-up will feature 4 wheel disc brake setups.

Why Do My Mustang's Brakes Squeak?

Squeaky Mustang brakes can be caused by a few different problems. The most common cause of squeaky Mustang brakes is worn-out brake pads, rotors, or drums. This can be caused by the brake pad material is completely worn down, causing metal on metal contact with the rotor. Also, some brake pads have a built-in wear indicator which creates an audible squeal to let you know your brake pads need to be replaced. Removing your wheel and visually inspecting your brake components should give you a good indication of any worn components.
