The 1979-1993 Mustang was built with a weak 75 amp alternator for the factory. This low amperage was not up to the task for electrical components like electric fans, upgraded stereos, and HID lighting.  These additions can tax the electrical system, which will demand more volts from your battery. Upgrading to 130 and 200-amp alternators are a great way to keep your battery charged and prevent dimming lights.
