Mustang SVE 130 Amp Alternator.
Upgrade the charging system on your 1999-2004 Mustang GT with this SVE 130 Amp alternator! This is a direct replacement alternator for the stock alternator found in your 4.6L equipped Mustang, but with a higher 130 Amp output to run more accessories, and provide better power for your electrical system. It also includes a pre-installed pulley, giving you the ability to bolt it on and go, without any modifications. This SVE 130 Amp alternator is a 100% brand new alternator, meaning you don't have to worry about getting a re-manufactured unit! With this brand new SVE alternator, you do not have to pay a core charge, saving you time and money. This alternator is currently available in either a bare aluminum or flat black finish.
SVE warrants its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship for as long as they remain installed on the vehicle for which they were originally purchased. Any SVE product found to be defective shall be repaired or replaced. This warranty is non-transferable and will be voided under any of the following conditions:
- Use in off-road, or racing applications.
- Failure due to natural/environment forces; either external or internal erosion, including effects of salt-air corrosion and electrolysis from internal cooling system fluids.
- Alteration of any kind (painting of the housing included), improper use or installation, negligence, or operating conditions in excess of original design.
- A faulty vehicle engine temperature warning system.
- Improper installation causing damage to connection threads.

How’s it going everybody? Landan with LMR.com! In this video I’ll be checking out SVE’s 130 amp alternators designed for the 1999 to 2004 Mustang GT.
Whether you are replacing a worn out factory unit or needing to upgrade the factory alternator to meet your current power demands, this 130 amp alternator from industry leader SVE is for you.
SVE’s 130 amp alternator is going to be for the New Edge enthusiast out there wanting the absolute for their charging system. This 130 amp alternator makes for a great upgrade over the factory 105 amp unit and a must have audio junkies with aftermarket sound equipment.
SVE designed this alternator to be a direct bolt on upgrade or replacement for your 1999 to 2004 Mustang GT. They are currently available in a bare aluminum finish just like the factory or a flat black version for some added stealthy aesthetics.
Each alternator will have a limited lifetime warranty that does warrant the item to be free from defects in material and workmanship. For more information on the limited lifetime warranty, be sure and check out the product page if you’re not already there.
Installing this alternator is very straightforward, and can be managed at home with some common hand tools. Before replacing your alternator, inspect obvious components that may need attention as well.
These will include your serpentine drive belt and alternator plug.
To begin the install, pop the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Use a break over bar and three-eighths adapter to rotate the tensioner.
Remove the belt from the alternator pulley.
Loosen, but do not fully remove the two lower 10mm bolts.
Use a small flat head to depress the clip on the electrical connection and disconnect it.
Position the power wire cover out of the way.
Remove the nut with a 10mm deep socket and position the harness out of your way.
On the alternator bracket, remove the four retaining bolts.
You may have to temporarily move the IAC hose.
Set the bracket aside and then remove the alternator.
Position the new alternator into place.
Reposition the bracket and retighten the four retaining bolts.
Tighten the two lower bolts.
Reconnect your IAC hose if it was rerouted.
Reconnect the electrical connection and install the power wire onto the new alternator.
Tighten the nut and then reposition the cover.
Rotate the tensioner and reroute the serpentine drive belt.
Make sure the belt is routed evenly across the entire accessory drive.
Reconnect the negative battery cable and then double check your work.
Reinstall the negative battery cable and you're all finished.
All in all here guys, you probably looking at 30 to 45 minutes from start to finish on this install. It is very straightforward and just about anyone can do it with a few basic hand tools.
