Cold Air Intakes are typically one of the first modifications any Mustang owner makes. This adds additional underhood styling by removing ugly OEM tubing and heightens horsepower and torque figures by providing colder, denser air to the engine. The S650 Mustang features a few different engine options. Whether you have a four-cylinder Ecoboost, a base model Coyote V8, or the highly modified Mustang Dark Horse edition, LMR.com is your one-stop shop for all 2024-2025 and newer cold air intakes.
The 2024-2025 S650 2.3L Ecoboost will share similar options from the previous 15-23 S550 chassis. This includes the high output 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. As with any forced induction application, heat is the number one culprit for robbing power. Simple mods like cold air intakes can help you restore and upgrade overall horsepower figures. Cold air intakes will help provide as much dense air to the inlet side of the turbocharger as possible compared to restrictive factory airboxes.
With the release of the new Mustang S650, it was natural that the Mustang would get a revised version of the Coyote V8 engine. This will mark the release of the 4th generation of the Coyote with improved horsepower and durability compared to the 3rd generation of the Coyote. This Coyote engine will feature a slight bump in the performance of roughly 20 RWHP. The most notable difference on the Gen 4 coyote is the dual throttle body and intake setup. This will certainly make a difference when it comes to purchasing an aftermarket CAI. While we can assume that big brands such as Steeda, Ford Performance, and AirAid will offer cold air intake kits in the near future that will certainly increase throttle response and horsepower numbers, we are eager to see how tuning will work .
Ford has stepped up once again with an upgraded performance model over the standard GT. The Dark Horse edition Mustang will feature a dual throttle body intake manifold design. Ford claims this will net 20-30 horsepower over the stock GT. Many European designers have used these dual intake designs for decades. These are known for improving the balance of airflow to each bank of the V8. This dual design will require two separate cold air intake tubes and airboxes for each throttle body.
