Issue
Some 2011 Mustang Shelby GT500 vehicles equipped with a 5.4L engine and built on or before 8/2/2010 may exhibit steering wheel shudder under heavy braking, steering wheel nibble, or a drift/pull condition.
Issue
Some 2011 Mustangs built on or before 4/25/2010, with a manual transmission and low mileage, typically 10,000 miles or less (16,093 Km), may exhibit a clutch pedal Stayout condition at very high engine RPM. This condition will generate a concern of the clutch pedal remaining on the floor during high engine RPM shifts. When engine RPM drops clutch pedal operation returns to normal, but the re-engagement may be abrupt.
Issue
Some 2011 Mustang V6 and GT vehicles may exhibit a fuel gauge indicator dropping from approximately 1/2 to 1/4 full to E, and Message Center displaying 0 Miles to Empty. This concern may be intermittent. Customers may also notice that when refueling, the vehicle takes only 7 to 10 gallons of fuel (tank capacity is 15 gallons). This concern may be due to the Fuel Pump Module (FPM) not drawing fuel from the fuel pick up located in the RH side of the fuel tank, which may be caused by an internal restriction in the FPM.

Some 2011 Mustang vehicles built on or before 8/16/2010 equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminating with one or more diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307 and/or P0308 present.
Issue
Some 2011 Mustang vehicles built on or before 8/16/2010 equipped with a 5.0L engine and either a manual or automatic transmission may exhibit the malfunction indicator lamp illuminating with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P050E, P061C, an intermittent hard start/long crank time up to two (2) seconds, or an idle speed dip, roll and variation in hot ambient temperatures. In addition, vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission may experience an idle speed dip, roll and variation (surge) in first gear coast or during an immediate reverse engagement after starting the engine.

Some 2011 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit premature percent Oil Life and Oil Change Required indications in the instrument cluster message center. The Intelligent Oil Life Monitor system uses information from the powertrain control module (PCM) and an algorithm to calculate the proper oil change interval based on the vehicle operating conditions to provide a maximum oil change interval of 16,000 Km (10,000 miles). However some vehicles may indicate a maximum interval of 8,000 Km (5,000 miles) regardless of how the vehicle is driven.
Issue
Some 2010-2011 Mustang vehicles built on or before 7/26/2010 may experience electrical circuit concerns related to systems controlled by the Body Control Module B (BCM-B) following a battery disconnect. The BCM-B memory retains old circuit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) faults even after the prior repair resolved the condition. Any subsequent battery disconnects may result in the return of the original DTCs and cause the BCM-B to shut down the previously repaired circuit(s).

Some 2011 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine and 6R80 transmission built from 11/1/2010 through 11/30/2010 may have the malfunction indicator light (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0741 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM).

Some 2011 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine and have an engine build date on or before 2/11/2011 may exhibit a squeal noise from the accessory drive belt during a cold engine start. The concern may be worse during cold and damp weather.

Some 2011 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine and built on or after 8/17/2010 may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble codes DTCs P2195, P2197, P2626 or P2629 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory.

Some 2011 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine and built on or after 8/17/2010 may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with one or more of the following diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory: P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308, P050E, or P2610.

Some 2011 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine and built on or after 8/17/2010 may exhibit a piston rattle noise in cold ambient temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) and below. The noise normally occurs in the 2000-3500 RPM range and will decrease as engine temperature warms up. An update of the powertrain control module (PCM) calibration to reduce intensity and duration of the noise is now available.

Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles equipped with 5.0L engine may have unauthorized modifications to the powertrain hardware and/or calibration which may result in exceeding component design limits. Such modifications could cause damage to the powertrain and/or void the powertrain and/or void the factory powertrain warranty.

Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles (excluding Boss 302) built on or before 3/31/2011 and equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit an intermittent metallic rattle or scratching type noise in the area at the front of the left hand (driver side) cylinder head at idle with the engine at operating temperature.

Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles built on or before 9/1/2011 and equipped with 3.7L engines may exhibit illuminated malfunction indicator Lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0460 stored in powertrain control module (PCM) memory This fuel level indication (FLI) DTC may be a false code generated by customer fueling habits.

Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles equipped with a MT82 6-speed manual transmission built on or before 08/15/2011 may exhibit increased shift efforts in cold ambient temperatures. This is usually most noticeable in 1st and 2nd gears but may also be noticed in 3rd through 6th gears. The increased shift effort may be the result of the increased viscosity of the transmission fluid in cold weather.

Some 2011 Mustangs built on or before 12/20/2010 may exhibit a 2-3 shift flare, 4-5 shift flare, harsh or delayed reverse engagement.

Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles, equipped with a 3.7L engine and built on or before 5/1/2011 may exhibit a cold startup ticking noise coming from the engine. The noise is present under the left hand (LH) valve cover and may last up to ten minutes.

Some 2011-2012 Mustang vehicles equipped with SYNC and built on or before 7/1/2012 may exhibit intermittent voice recognition: SYNC is not listening/hearing commands, no response to voice commands or SYNC responds voice commands not available with this device when using play artist/album/track commands. Voice recognition, phone/USB connectivity, and traffic, directions and information notification/voice recognition, commands not available with this device when using play artist/album/track commands.

Some 2011-2013 Mustangs may exhibit a grunt/creak/chirp/squeak noise from the front lower control arm hydro bushing. These noises may occur over large vertical bumps like speed bumps, pot holes, rough roads, and driveway approaches.

Some 2010-2011 Mustangs with SYNC non-navigation and MyFord Touch and built on or before 05/14/2012 may exhibit a voice prompt indicating SYNC Service’s Traffic, Directions or Information (TDI) is unable to locate the vehicle or a Global Position System (GPS) issue is present. Vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch Touch and Navigation may exhibit a screen message indicating navigation stopped functioning contact your dealer, GPS has red strike through X, Navigation unavailable is displayed in the upper right hand corner of the display screen, and/or the last known vehicle location may be displayed instead of current location.

Some 2011-2013 Mustangs vehicles may exhibit an intermittent drivability condition, crank/no start, a blown fuse 13 in the battery junction box and may have Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0627 stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Some 2011-2013 Mustangs equipped with a 6R80 transmission and built on or before 4/8/2013 may exhibit a transmission engagement in higher (5th) gear when starting. The wrench indicator and/or the seat belt minder may be illuminated, the speedometer reads zero and the odometer displays dashes while driving. Symptoms may clear after an ignition key cycle. Diagnostics trouble codes (DTCs) P0720 and P0722 may or may not be stored in the powertrain control module (PCM).

Some 2011-2013 Mustangs may exhibit a delayed forward or reverse transmission engagement condition when cold.

Some 2011-2014 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 6R80 transmission and built on or before 4/8/2013 may exhibit a transmission engagement in 5th gear when starting. The wrench indicator and/or the seat belt minder may be illuminated, the speedometer reads zero and the odometer displays dashes while driving. Symptoms may clear after an ignition key cycle. Diagnostics trouble codes (DTCs) P0720 and P0722 may or may not be stored in the powertrain control module (PCM).

Some 2011-2014 Mustangs equipped with a 5.0L engine and built on or before 5/1/2013 may exhibit a MIL illuminated with any combination of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307,
P0308 and/or P0316. There will be no other DTCs or drivability symptoms present.
