With the introduction of the 2015 Mustangs, Ford reintroduced the four-cylinder platform again. After reading more into the 2.3L EcoBoost engine, I was interested in how the car would perform. Ford claimed that the car would make 310 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque; impressive numbers for a four cylinder engine. We were lucky enough to have an employee pick one up and let us strap it down on the dyno. His S550 Mustang made 240 horsepower and 301 lb-ft of torque through the 6 speed automatic transmission. Needless to say I was impressed with the numbers the car made considering a V8 Fox Body Mustang made less factory rated power.

Just like any other car guy, I would like to see what the Ecoboost Mustangs can do with some bolt-on performance mods. I would like to see what a cold air kit and cat-back exhaust could do to wake up that 2.3l Ecoboost Mustang. With companies like Airaid already offering a kit for the new Pony Car, it will be interesting to see how much power they add to the car.

The Airaid Cold Air Intake for the 2.3L EcoBoost Mustang, part number AID-452326, includes all needed parts for an easy installation. Combine that intake with a catback exhaust system and you should easily see performance gains of over 25 horsepower. Not to shabby for a four cylinder! Personally, I would like to hear what the Magnaflow Street system, MPE-19097, would sound like on the Ecoboost Mustang.

I would also make some cosmetic changes to the 2015 EcoBoost Mustang. The first thing would be a change in ride height. With Eibach Pro Springs, EIB-35145140, it would be an inch drop and have a good look and nice ride. I would follow that up with some Velgen VMB8 wheels and Nitto tires. To keep it legal in Texas without drilling in to the bumper, I would use the Sto N Sho License plate braket, LRS-2015LPF. Then ditch the stock hood prop rod with the MRT hood struts, MRT-80U900-BLK.

If you could build a 2015 EcoBoost Mustang any way you wanted, what would you do? Be sure to stay tuned to see what some performance mods and tuning will do for this turbocharged Pony Car!
