How To: Install 2015-17 Mustang Ford Racing Deck Lid Trim Panel

Ford Racing Deck Lid Trim Panel

The Ford Racing Deck Lid Trim Panel is the perfect "blank canvas" to add a touch of customization to your 2015-16 Mustang. This is the EXACT production trim panel that is pulled from the production process before the mounting holes are drilled for the Horse, GT, or 50th Anniversary badge. It is finished in gloss black and will work with cars that came with or without a backup camera.


Required Tools

  • Masking Tape
  • 1/4" Drive Socket Wrench
  • 7mm Deep Socket
  • Plastic Pry Tool
  • 5.5mm Shallow Socket


Install

  1. To begin installation, tape the top of the trunk with quality masking tape.
  2. Pop the trunk and remove the two plastic covers exposing the four 7mm bolts.
  3. Remove the 7mm bolts and then carefully pry the top of the deck lid trim panel with a plastic pry bar.
  4. Work your way across the entire deck lid until it is free from the trunk.
  5. Disconnect the back-up camera electrical connection and remove the deck lid from the car.
  6. Remove the two 5.5mm bolts that hold the backup camera in place.
  7. Do the same on the Ford Racing deck lid trim panel, and transfer the camera.
  8. Remove the tape and clean the area if you’d like.
  9. Reconnect your backup camera, and position the lower tabs on the trim panel into the trunk.
  10. Firmly apply pressure to the top of the trim panel until it pops into place.
  11. Reinstall the previously removed 7mm bolts and covers.
  12. Take a quick look at everything, and you’re all done!

How’s it going everyone, Landan here with Late Model Restoration! Today I’m going to be taking a quick look at Ford Racing’s Deck Lid Trim Panel fitting all 2015 Mustangs!

Alright guys, we just wrapped up the install on the Ford Racing Deck Lid Trim Panel, and it really cleans up the rear of this Mustang. This should only take you around 30 minutes to complete, and you can do it right at home.

To begin installation, tape the top of the trunk with quality masking tape. Pop the trunk and remove the two plastic covers exposing the four 7mm bolts. Remove the 7mm bolts and then carefully pry the top of the deck lid trim panel with a plastic pry bar. Work your way across the entire deck lid until it is free from the trunk. Disconnect the back-up camera electrical connection and remove the deck lid from the car.

Remove the two 5.5mm bolts that hold the backup camera in place. Do the same on the Ford Racing deck lid trim panel, and transfer the camera. Next, remove the tape and clean the area if you’d like. Reconnect your backup camera, and position the lower tabs on the trim panel into the trunk. Firmly apply pressure to the top of the trim panel until it pops into place. Reinstall the previously removed 7mm bolts and covers. Take a quick look at everything, and you’re all done!
