How To Remove 2024-25 Mustang Rear Spoiler Module

Tool List

• Microfiber Towels
• Waterless Wash Product
• Isopropyl Alcohol (Prep Spray)
• Adhesive Remover
• Fishing Line (to separate the double-sided tape)
• 1/4" Socket Wrench
• 1/4" Socket Set
• 1/4" Extensions

Torque Specs

• Spoiler Module Retaining Nuts: 49 lb-in
• Spoiler Module Retaining Screws: 22 lb-in
• Backup Camera Bracket Screws: Hand Tight

Removal Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle

• Open the trunk lid.
• Remove the (3) screw type retainers and remove the battery cover.
• Now you will have access to the battery, disconnect the negative battery cable.
  

Step 2: Remove The Trunk Liner

• Feed the emergency release handle through the opening of the trunk liner.
• Use a small flat head screw driver to release the tab on the latch cover. Remove cover. 
• Rotate the bumpers counterclockwise to remove them from the trunk lid.
• Use a plastic pry tool to remove the push pins securing the trim panel to the underside of the trunk lid. 
• Remove and set the trim panel aside.

Step 3: Remove Spoiler Module Hardware

• Remove both upper grommets on each upper corner of the trunk lid.
• Loosen and remove the (4) 7mm screws securing the spoiler module to the trunk, there are (2) per side.
• Loosen and remove the (2) 10mm bolts securing the spoiler module to the trunk lid, there is (1) bolt per side.
• Remove the (5) 10mm nuts securing the spoiler module to the trunk lid. Use a magnet to help prevent dropping a nut inside the trunk lid. 

Step 4: Remove Spoiler Module

• Lower the trunk lid down.
• Remove the spoiler module. Start on one end of the module and pull towards you in a quick motion.
• Rest the spoiler on your leg and dislodge the harness clips.
• Disconnect the camera harness electrical connection.
• The spoiler module can now be fully removed from the car. 

Step 5: Clean Trunk Area

• Before reinstalling the module or installing an aftermarket spoiler, clean the area where the previous module was thoroughly. 
• Remove any left over tape residue with a microfiber towel and adhesive remover.
• Finally wipe the area down with a prep spray.
