2024+ S650 Mustang J&L Oil Separator Install

Installing an oil separator on your 2024+ Mustang is one of the best first mods you can do. Watch as we show you the quick and easy steps to installing one on your GT.

By now, installing an oil separator has become a common practice amongst vehicle enthusiasts because of what they're designed to do. Speaking of their purpose, it's is simple. An oil separator prevents oil vapor from making its way back into the intake system. The oil vapor is filtered through a stainless steel mesh screen that collects into the canister. Overtime, this oil vapor will collect within the throttle body, intake manifold, and the intake ports on the cylinder head which can cause drivability issues further along in the car's life. Plus, let's admit it! We're car people. These easy modifications that net some sort of value make us feel good.

Installation Instructions

Step 1: Remove The Intake Cover

  • Carefully pull up on the intake cover to remove the pegs from the grommets. No tools are needed here.


Step 2: Remove The PCV Hoses & Prep Area

  • Locate The PCV Hoses On The Passenger Side. Looking At The Connection Point, You Will See A Silver Tab That Secures The Fitting To The PCV Fitting. Pull The Tab Away From The Hose & It Will Allow You To Disconnect The Hoses. These Hoses Will Get Replaced By The Oil Separator.
  • To Get More Working Room, You Can Remove The Driver's Side PCV Hose As Well.

 


Step 3: Install Bracket & Oil Separator

  • Using A 10mm Socket, Remove The Stud At The Rear Of The Degas Bottle.
  • Position The Included Bracket In Place & Reinstall The Stud, Making Sure Not To Fully Tighten Yet.
  • Now Grab Your Oil Separator. To Make Things Easier, Remove The Bottom Section Of The Separator.
  • Route The Hoses In The Orientation Of Your Choosing. We Routed Our Under The Heater Hoses.
  • Clip Your New Hoses Into The Correct Fittings On The PCV Valves.
  • Using A Phillips Head Screwdriver, Install The Separator To The Bracket.
  • Check Your Connections & Secure Your Bracket Fully, Making Sure Not To Overtighten. 

 


Step 4: Reinstall Driver's Side PCV Hose & Intake Cover

  • Reinstall The Driver's Side PCV Hose.
  • Reinstall Your Engine Intake Cover.
  • Double Check Your Work & You Are Done.
