2025 Mustang GTD On Track & Ride Along

While attending an HPDE event at Motorsports Park Hastings in Nebraska, we happened to run into a Ford Engineer who had brought along a Mustang GTD to get a few laps in. As avid road race fans, we love getting out to these events with our fellow enthusiasts and getting some track time in. In our stable were some of our employee vehicles including S197s, S550s, and our recently supercharged 2024 Mustang Dark Horse. This was our first event with the Darkhorse, so we were eager to see what it did.

When we first saw the GTD, we knew we had to check it out and see what it was all about. That is when we learned it was driven by Todd Soderquist, Chief Engineer at Ford Racing. Todd was nice enough to allow a few of us to sit in the GTD and get a feel of what it was all about. 



Todd then gave us some great insight into the reasoning behind them building the GTD and showed us all of the features that are unique to the GTD. He spoke about the team racing the GTD at the Nurburgring, competition between Ford and Chevy, and some really cool engineering intricacies that went into developing each part of the GTD.


Todd also allowed us to ride along as he ripped around the corners of Motorsports Hastings, giving us a first hand look and feel of how it performed on track. Tracking alongside the GTD in our vehicles was a really cool experience as it is not everyday you see a GTD, let alone on the track. 

We want to extend a huge thank you to Motorsports Park Hastings and Todd for the hospitality and ride-alongs in the GTD. What we thought was going to be a regular track day turned into a great learning experience about the GTD.
