The Cobra name has been tied to the Mustang for quite a while. In 1979, 1980, and 1981 Ford had a Cobra package they put on the Mustang GT. From 1983-1991 Canadian cars that were Mustang GT's here in the U.S. were labeled as Cobras across the border.
