Ford Performance Off-Road Idler Bracket M8604A50 Installation Guide

• 1979-93 Mustang Idler
• 1979-95 Mustang Cylinder Head Smog Threaded Inserts
• 1993-95 Lightning Idler
• 1993-95 Lightning Cylinder Head Smoth Threaded Inserts
• 1992-96 Bronco Idler 

Important: This process is designed for 1979-1995 Mustangs, but it can also be adapted for 1992-1996 Ford Bronco and 1993-1995 Ford Lightning applications.

Installation Instructions

• Remove hose attached to the back of the factory smog pump.
• Remove the serpentine drive belt.
• Remove the bolt from the bottom rear of the smog pump. Do not remove the metal brace attached to the timing cover.
• Remove the top bolt from the smog pump.
• Remove smog pump from the aluminum bracket.
• Place smog pump eliminator in its place and loosely install the top bolt.
• Position the eliminator and line up the bottom rear hole and loosely install the bolt.
• Tighten both bolts and reinstall the serpentine drive belt.
• Remove rubber smog hoses with valves and plug the vacuum lines.
• Remove the metal crossover tube from the rear of the cylinder heads & use LRS-6086AK to plug the holes in the cylinder heads.
• Remove the metal tube going to the H pipe and pinch off the h-pipe opening with a pair of pliers, or weld the hole shut.

**NOTE** 1994-1995 may require minor clearance of the mounting bracket to clear the alternator.
