However, we see this as watchable content for those wanting to learn a little something they may not know or just want to enjoy the process. In this video, Landan explains the full oil change and oil life reset procedures in detail on a 2024 Mustang GT.

• Lift or Jack & Jack Stands
• Microfiber Towels
• Cardboard, Aluminum Foil, or Form-a-funnel
• Brake Clean
• 15mm Socket or Wrench
• 7mm Socket
• Push Pin Removal Kit
• 1/4" Socket Wrench
• 3/8" Socket Wrench
• 3/8" Torque Wrench

Torque Specs

• Oil Pan Drain Plug - 19 lb-ft
• Oil Filter Stage 1 - 144 lb-in
• Oil Filter Stage 2 - 180-degree rotation
• Lower Closeout Panel Bolts - 18 lb-in

Installation Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Tools:

• Ensure you have the necessary tools such as a socket set, push pin removal tool, a pick tool, a drain pan, and a funnel.

Step 2: Remove Lower Closeout Panel:

• Use a 7 mm socket to remove the 7 mm screws from the lower closeout panel.
• Use a pick tool to dislodge the head of the push-type retainers and remove them.
• Pull down the lower closeout panel.

Step 3: Drain Oil Pan:

• Locate the oil pan underneath the car.
• Position the drain pan underneath the oil pan.
• Loosen and remove the oil pan drain plug. Replace when oil comes to a slow drip. Tighten to 19 ft/lbs

Step 4: Remove Old Oil Filter:

• Locate the oil filter.
• Loosen the oil filter and let the oil drain into the pan.
• Wipe the area around the oil filter adapter.

Step 5: Prepare Oil Filter:

• Clean the O-ring of the new oil filter with brake clean and a microfiber towel.
• Blow out any debris from the filter.
• Pre-oil the filter and lubricate the O-ring with a thin film of fresh engine oil.

Step 6: Install New Oil Filter:

• Screw on the new oil filter until it makes contact with the oil filter adapter.
• Tighten hand-tight, then give it a little extra turn.
• Check for any leaks or drips.

Step 7: Reinstall Lower Closeout Panel:

• Reverse the removal steps for the lower closeout panel.
• Use flat push pins to secure the panel in place.

Step 8: Tighten Fasteners:

• Use a 7 mm socket to tighten the screws securing the lower closeout panel. Do not overtighten.

Step 9: Fill Engine with Oil:

• Open the hood and locate the oil fill cap.
• Use a clean funnel to pour 10 quarts of 5W30 oil into the engine.

Step 10: How To Reset Oil Life 2024 Mustang GT:

• Turn the key to the "on" position (without starting the engine).
• Navigate to the vehicle settings on the infotainment screen.
• Find the oil life section, hold down the selection to reset it to 100%.

Step 11: Check Oil Level:

• Start the engine and let it idle.
• Turn off the engine and check the oil level using the dipstick on the driver's side valve cover.
