What’s up everyone? Landan with lmr.com! In this video, I’ll be taking a quick look at this throttle body cable bracket from 5.0 Resto… as well as showing you guys the very installation steps.
5.0 Resto’s motto is simple… dedicated to the preservation of Fox Body Mustangs!.... and this throttle body cable bracket easily reflects that.
This bracket is constructed from stamped steel construction and then zinc coated to provide a finish that will last a very long time.
You’ll need this bracket if the factory one is missing, damaged, or simply just want a new one.
It features all of the correct provisions and mounting locations for the throttle cable, cruise control cable if equipped, and the throttle valve kickdown cable for automatic owners.
Included in the box is the bracket itself, two factory-style sheet metal screws that secure the throttle and cruise cables, and a pre-installed harness retainer for the throttle body position sensor electrical connection.
This bracket will fit all 1986 to 1993 five point oh Mustangs with fuel injection.
To begin the install, pop the hood and support it via the prop rod.
Remove the intake pipe to allow for more work room.
Carefully remove any vacuum lines that are in the area for work room.
Dislodge the harness clip from the existing bracket if it’s still intact.
Carefully dislodge the throttle cable from the ball stud on the throttle body.
Loosen and remove the two screws securing the throttle cable and cruise control cable to the bracket.
Loosen and remove the two 10mm bolts securing the bracket to the intake manifold.
Gently pull up on the bracket.
Remove the cruise control and throttle cable from the bracket.
If you own an automatic car, rotate the kickdown cable with an open end wrench until the small tabs align with the grooves in the bracket.
Position it out of the way.
The bracket is now free to come out.
With new bracket on a work bench… get the two provided sheet metal screws started.
This will save you a little bit of heartache instead of having to do it with the bracket already in the car.
Once the screws are started… remove them.
Position the new bracket into the car.
Slide the throttle cable into the groove and align the bolt holes.
Thread in one of the new screws.
Align the locating dowel with the hole in the new bracket.
Thread in the other new bolt to retain the cruise control cable.
Position the bracket into place and align it with the bolt holes in the intake manifold.
Reinstall and retighten the bolts.
Apply some grease to the ball stud and then clip the throttle cable back onto the ball stud.
Slide the throttle position sensor electrical connection into the pre-installed harness clip.
Reinstall the intake pipe and double check your work.
You’re all finished!
Wrapping everything up here guys… this throttle body cable bracket from 5.0 Resto fit perfectly into our 1993 Fox!
The only thing you may need to finish off your project is a set of bracket to intake manifold retaining bolts… which are also available on the site.
