Mustang Door Arm Rest Chrome Trim Strips.
These 5.0 Resto 1987-93 Mustang door armrest chrome trim strips are often overlooked in the most meticulous of restorations. They are located between the door armrest pad and the door armrest housing. They are held to the armrest housing with staples, and the original staples can be reused.
Installation Note:
- Two chrome strips are included and are interchangeable between the driver and passenger side. Staples will be needed to hold them in place just like the factory ones.
Fitment Note:
- This kit will only work with power window equipped Fox Body Mustangs.

How’s it going everyone? Landan with lmr.com! In today’s video, I’ll be checking out a very simple interior restoration part for your 1987 to 1993 Fox Mustang; and that is the chrome strips that sit between
When restoring a Fox Mustang, details matter; and one of those detail-oriented items are the chrome strips that are located between the door armrest pad and the door armrest assembly.
These particular strips from 5.0 Resto are constructed using similar materials as the ones that originally came on the car and are precisely molded to ensure a nice fit into your Fox.
Now in the package will be two chrome strips that are not side specific. To complete the install, you will need a nice staple gun with factory-spec staples.
The staple you’ll want to track down is…
As far as installing the chrome stripes, it’s pretty straightforward. You’ll first open the door and remove the armrest plugs.
Loosen and remove the two 3/8 bolts. Then remove the two Phillips-head screws from the front and rear of the armrest assembly.
Carefully roll the assembly down to expose the underside. Loosen and remove the 4 Phillips-head screws securing the armrest pad to the assembly.
Set the armrest pad aside. Use needle nose pliers to remove the factory installed staples followed by the factory chrome strip.
Take this time to clean the area. Ensure that the small lip is facing up and then align the chrome strip with the armrest assembly.
First you’ll want to tack it into place with one staple then install a few more to ensure a solid hold. Align the rearward relief cuts and install some staples.
Position the armrest pad and retighten the 4 screws. Roll the assembly back into position on the door panel and reinstall the retaining hardware.
Repeat these steps for the other side.
