  1. Start by opening your door and rolling down your window. This will allow you to grab the door in areas around the panel itself for the removal process.

  2. Crack the corner vent window.

  3. On your power window switch, remove the phillips head holding it in place.

  4. Lift the switch and the bezel from the panel and flip it over accessing the retaining screws and the mirror switch connector on the back side.

  5. Remove all (3) phillips head screws holding the switch to the bezel.

  6. Using a small flat bladed screwdriver, release the connector on the mirror switch.

  7. Now go to the door pull area and remove the screw.

  8. Starting on the top corner of the panel, locate the long phillips head screw in the recessed hole and remove it from the panel.

  9. Since you will be dealing with many different screw sizes, we recommend using a small scrap of cardboard to label each of the screws coming out to keep track of.

  10. Moving to the lower edge of the door, locate all of the attaching screws and remove from the door.

  11. Once all of the attaching screws are removed from the door, you will need to release the door panel push pins that hold this panel in place. There will be (3) of these along the leading edge, (2) on the backside, and (1) in the center by the handle.

  12. Once you start working your way around the door with a trim removal tool, you will notice that the center push pin is difficult to reach. For us, we used a combination of a long-reach trim removal tool and tugging by hand worked well.

  13. Once the panel is free, you will need to remove the door light by turning this counter-clockwise.

  14. Then you can back the electrical connectors down through the hole and lift the door panel up and out of the way.

What’s up everybody? Landan with LMR.com! In this video, I’ll be showing the very easy steps on you go about removing the door panel on your first gen Lightning.

Removing the door panels are essential when replacing components such as door lock actuators, window regulators, and of course weatherstrip.

Open the door.

Locate the top inner most screw.

Remove the 7 screws retaining the door panel.

Remove the screw retaining the switch cover.

Carefully pry up on the cover.

Release the tab on the power mirror connection if equipped and remove the connection.

Remove the three screws retaining the switch board to the cover.

Lift up on the door panel and tilt it enough to remove the puddle light.

Rotate this counter-clockwise.

Remove the door panel from the truck.
