In 1993, the SVT Cobra was born and became one of baddest and best Mustangs in the ‘90s. Not only were they rare, but they made some serious power. But some tend to forget about the Fox Body that paved the way for the Cobra. If you haven't heard of it before, it might be because only 62 have ever been produced. The SAAC MK1 was born to be a racing icon and was only available to a select few in the club.

Shelby American Automobile Club
Before we go deeper into the MK1, let's talk about the club. The SAAC is the Shelby American Automobile Club. Their motto: “Dedicated to the care, preservation, history, and enjoyment of the world championship cars from Shelby American, and the cars they have inspired from 1962 to today.” The club made sure to create an icon that would change the game for the Fox Body Mustang. The president, Rich Kopec, envisioned an idea to build a SAAC car and had approval from Carroll Shelby himself to do so. So the process began by taking 62 Fox Body Mustangs and outfitting them with aftermarket and Ford Motorsport catalog parts to blend power, handling, and comfort.
The 1992 SAAC MK 1 consisted of a number of changes. While it may not look like much, the engine, suspension, drivetrain, and even the body had been touched. These special characteristics are what make the MK1 so rare. Especially since only SAAC members were allowed to purchase one of these $40,000 Fox Bodies. Yes, you read that correctly. Each one of these cars was $40k.
