Formulated to fortify one of the most common weak points of the Fox Body chassis, this EXO brace kit from Detroit Speed will strengthen your Mustang's upper torque boxes to prevent unwanted chassis damage during intense driving. On a 1979-1993 Mustang, the upper torque boxes are located directly above the mounting location of the upper control arms to the chassis. After numerous high RPM launches on sticky tires or abuse on the road course, these torque boxes in your Mustang begin to fatigue and are known to tear or rip completely out of the vehicle. Losing an upper control arm mount like this can result in unpredictable handling, poor ride quality, and dangerous driving scenarios at any speed. The provided bracing in this kit ties the link pockets to the frame rail and the floor pan to the frame rail, all while tying both link pockets together in the middle. By utilizing this unique design, this EXO brace kit is an effective bolt on solution to improve the structural rigidity of the upper torque boxes. While this kit is designed to be bolted in, it can also be welded into place for further reinforcement. As per Detroit Speed's recommendations, vehicles making over 400 horsepower should weld the EXO brace into the vehicle after it has been installed. As an added feature, Detroit Speed utilizes an additional upper control arm hole to help correct the instant center geometry on lowered applications.
