The Driveshaft Shop Aluminum Driveshaft
This driveshaft from The Driveshaft Shop is lighter and stronger than the factory 2-piece shaft found in the 2011-14 Mustang GT and 2012-13 Boss 302. Shedding rotational weight greatly improves your Mustang's acceleration and quarter mile times. Constructed of high quality 6061-T6 aluminum this shaft features a beefy 1350 forged aluminum front u-joint with a flange that mounts directly to the transmission. A 28 spline, precision ground CV joint fits directly inside the pinion flange just like the factory. This lightweight, 1-piece driveshaft also features a 3.5" diameter which avoids interference that can happen on lowered Mustangs equipped with a 4" shaft. This driveshaft is designed specifically for the 2011-2014 GT and Boss Mustangs equipped with either a manual MT-82 transmission or automatic 6R80 transmission.
Installation Note
Emergency brake cable bracket clearance or relocation may be necessary. Failure to check this clearance may damage the driveshaft and void the warranty.
Product Note
The Driveshaft Shop has made a revision to this drive shaft that eliminates the need for an adapter. See the updated DSS PDF below.
Application
Fits 2011-2014 Mustang GT & 2012-2013 Mustang Boss 302
Disclaimer - Driveshaft Hardware
- The 1979-2004 Mustang factory driveshaft bolts are installed using a thread locker chemical and are NOT torque to yield. If reusing the factory bolts, clean the old thread locker material from the threads, and apply new blue thread locker before reinstalling the bolts or use new driveshaft bolts and apply blue thread locker to threads and torque to the factory specifications. New bolts can be found here: HDW-4602.
- For 2005-2021 Ford Mustangs, it is recommended that you install new driveshaft to pinion flange bolts when removing the driveshaft. The driveshaft to pinion flange bolts are torque to yield and should be torqued to 41ft-lbs.
