1985-1993 Mustang Replacement Cooling Fan Clutch
This replacement 1985-1993 Mustang fan clutch can help get your Fox Body's cooling system back in order. When the engine is cool or even at normal operating temperature, the fan clutch partially disengages your Mustang's cooling fan, located at the front of the water pump and driven by the serpentine belt. This saves power, since your engine does not have to drive the cooling fan at full speed. When your Mustang's engine temperature rises above the fan clutch's engagement temperature, the fan becomes engaged, and draws more air through your Mustang's radiator, which lowers the coolant temperature to an acceptable level.
Mustang Fan Clutch Failure
When your Mustang fan clutch fails normally it will stop engaging and will allow the fan to spin freely, not pulling in the amount of air required to cool your Mustang's engine. This will cause your engine to overheat and for your air conditioning to stop cooling as well because the air conditioner's condenser is located in front of your Mustang's radiator. Though not as common another symptom of fan clutch failure is when the fan clutch is locked up or always 100% engaged. If this happens during the winter months the heater will blow lukewarm air instead of hot air.
