Rear Seat Belt Set
Finally a solution for faded & worn seatbelts. Don't leave those ugly frayed worn out seat belts in your 1987-1989 Foxbody Mustang. Replace them with this new set of smoke gray rear seat belts! Safety is our #1 concern, so these belts meet or exceed FMVSS 209/302 specs. This set includes 1 pair of belt/retractor assemblies, 1 pair of buckles which is enough to replace the rear belts in your 1979-1989 Mustang. Just one more reason that LRS is your one stop shop for all your Fox Mustang Restoration Needs.
Must reuse original retractor assembly dust cover. Set includes RH & LH retractor and RH and LH buckles. Smoke Gray is correct for 87-89 mustangs but can be used on any 1979-1989 Mustang Application.
- Fits 1979-1989 Mustang Coupe, Hatchback and Convertible.
I have a 89 Mustang Convertible GT 5.0 that was recently purchased with defective rear seat belts, both were locked up and would not extend. I bought this kit to replace them. After I removed the rear seat bottom to expose the seat belt mechanisms I realized the ones here are larger in size than the factory and I was not able to reuse the plastic housings from the original. I was able to adapt the new belts, but there are no guides or stops to keep the them from retracting back under the seat. I am currently exploring a way to stop them from reeling all the way in and forcing me to fish them out when needed. Good new is they do work, thus the 3 stars. I am thinking these were not made for the convertible and I may have ordered the wrong part. Not sure, just be aware of this.
Yes, I would recommend this item to a friend!

Not an OEM fit on a 1989 Convertible

I purchased this kit due to my original belts were not retracting anymore. The instructions state you must reuse original retractor assembly dust covers. You cannot due to the much larger retractor assembly on these replacements. So, I did modify the top part of the dust cover by cutting it down (as per the instructions) and pulled the seatbelt through. This does allow me to grab the seatbelts from the side of the seat to hook them but does not keep the seatbelts clean (I need to clean and keep the floor pan clean so the seatbelts stay clean). The instructions mention a rivet, but there was not one on my dust covers, they were plastic with latches.
The color match is very good. You can change the female end or not, the new retractor side will lock on either. These are a must to restore safety.
Are there any replacement retractor dust covers which will fit these replacement belts?
