Replacment EGR Valve
If your 1993-1995 SVT Lightning is running rough, bucking when accelerating, or has a check engine light, your EGR valve may need to be replaced. This direct replacement EGR valve can easily get your Lightning running smoothly again.
What Does An EGR Valve Do?
An EGR Valve, or Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve, is a component of the emissions system. Its function is to recycle a small amount of exhaust gas back into the intake air to help cool the combustion process for a more complete burn of the air/fuel mixture. This also helps prevent the formation of harmful Oxides of Nitrogen, or NOx gasses, making your Lighting's spent exhaust cleaner. Two of the most common things that cause an EGR Valve to fail are carbon build-up on the valve opening not allowing it to seal off properly & a punctured, torn, or deteriorated vacuum diaphragm not allowing the valve to open at all.
Installation Note
This EGR valve is slightly different than the original. The original vacuum port is at the 10 o'clock position, whereas this port is at the 2 o'clock position. Slight vacuum line rerouting will be required.
